Grandview Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation opened in a new location on the Grandview Health campus in November.
Formerly known as Easy Street, Grandview Inpatient Rehabilitation relocated 12 patients from the hospital to Grandview Physicians Plaza II. The new space offers enhanced equipment and capabilities to support patient recovery and help them safely return to their daily activities.
The new 17-bed inpatient unit will feature an expanded therapy gym with new equipment including the Zero G body weight support system. By unloading a percentage of a patient’s body weight, the system allows earlier, more intensive gait training with a reduced risk of falling.
Other features of the new floor include specifically designed bariatric rooms as well as an activities of daily living bedroom and kitchen, uneven surfaces space to simulate real world challenges, modern patient rooms designed for safety and healing, and room for future expansion.
Once the move is completed, Grandview will begin construction on the former rehab space. “Relocating our inpatient rehab unit allows us to open up more capacity for 24 general acute care beds on our main campus,” said McKinney.
