Dawn Bulgarella, MSHA, CPA, CEO of UAB Health System, and Natalie Fox, DNP, PNP-BC, interim CEO of USA Health, are both on Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 list of academic medical center CEOs to know.

Bulgarella is the Chief Executive Officer of the UAB Health System, where she is responsible for a 16-hospital system with annual revenues approaching $8 billion. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and a Master’s degree in Health Administration from UAB. She serves on numerous health care boards, and was appointed by Governor Ivey to the Alabama Workforce Board’s Executive Committee.

Fox earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in nursing from the University of South Alabama. She has served in numerous roles with USA Health since 2011. In 2022 she was honored with Alabama’s Top Nurses Lifetime Achievement Award, and Governor Kay Ivey appointed her to a three-year term on the state’s Certificate of Need Review Board.
