With over 25 years in the healthcare industry, Jarrod Johnson has been named the CEO of UAB Callahan Eye. Johnson comes to UAB from the University of Pittsburg Medical Center in Pennsylvania, where he served as president of UPMC Carlisle. There he headed up recruitment efforts, expanded service lines and improved patient access, while achieving cost savings through reduced lengths of stay.
Prior to the UPMC post, he served as COO of Cook County Health System in Chicago, and had roles at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo; Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, New York; Optim Health System in Savannah; UK King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky; and Alegent Health Omaha.
Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and an MBA from Howard University. He also received a certificate in managing health care delivery from Harvard.
